What the connector does

IP Author is a patent-intelligence and drafting platform. This connector gives Claude direct access to IP Author’s tools from inside a conversation. Search a 183M-publication global patent corpus, run prior-art and freedom-to-operate analysis, pull US prosecution history, and draft a complete patent application from an invention disclosure — without switching to a separate app or copying data back and forth.

Before You Connect

What you need

  • An active IP Author account with an appropriate subscription plan. Some tools may be limited by your plan.
  • Your IP Author account must be authorized to use the Claude connector. Contact your IP Author account admin or support@ipauthor.com if you don’t see the option to connect.
Setup

How to connect

In Claude.ai (Team / Enterprise)

  • 1. Go to Settings → Connectors, or have your organization admin add it from Organization settings → Connectors.
  • 2. Find “IP Author” and select Connect.
  • 3. You’ll be redirected to log in with your IP Author account credentials (OAuth). Approve the requested access.
  • 4. Once connected, ask Claude to use IP Author directly in a conversation.

No API keys or manual configuration are required. Authentication happens through the standard OAuth login flow above.

Roadmap

Where it’s going

IP Author is actively building out the rest of the patent lifecycle on this same platform: invention harvesting and disclosure capture, PTAB and PACER litigation data, docketing and deadline/annuity alerts, licensing and damages modeling, and a workflow layer for composing and hosting custom agents on top of these tools. Today’s tool set covers the core research, analysis, and drafting workflow end to end; more of the lifecycle lands as it ships.
