About IP Author
IP Author (ipauthor.com) is building the modern operating system for patents and IP. We help in-house teams, law firms, and innovators manage the full patent lifecycle—strategy, drafting, prosecution, and portfolio analytics—with intuitive workflows and intelligent automation. We’ve recently raised a Seed round and are now building out our core product and go-to-market teams.
The Role
We’re looking for a Product Manager who can own core parts of our SaaS product for IP professionals. You’ll work closely with our founders, engineering, design, and customers to shape the roadmap, ship features quickly, and build a product our users love to live in all day.
This is a great role for someone who likes wearing multiple hats, is comfortable with ambiguity, and wants to have outsized impact at an early-stage company.
What you’ll do
- Own the product lifecycle for key product areas: discovery, requirements, specs, delivery, and iteration.
- Talk to customers (IP counsels, patent attorneys, agents, R&D leaders) to deeply understand their workflows and pain points.
- Translate complex IP workflows into simple, intuitive product experiences.
- Create clear PRDs, user stories, and acceptance criteria and maintain a prioritized backlog.
- Work closely with engineering to scope, plan, and ship high-quality features on time.
- Define success metrics, run experiments, and use data to drive decisions.
- Partner with Sales & Customer Success to support demos, gather feedback, and drive adoption.
- Help shape our product vision and roadmap as we grow from Seed to the next stage.
What you’ve done
- 3–6 years of experience in product management for SaaS or B2B products.
- Strong experience owning a product/feature area end-to-end.
- Comfortable working directly with engineers, designers, and GTM partners.
- Proven ability to run customer discovery and turn insights into actionable requirements.
- Strong written communication: you write clear specs and can align stakeholders.
- Data-driven mindset and familiarity with analytics tools (Mixpanel, Amplitude, GA, etc.).
- Experience in any of the following is a plus (but not required):
- Legal tech, IP management, or working with patent professionals
- Workflow-heavy enterprise products
- Early-stage startup experience
Who you are
- User-obsessed and curious; you enjoy sitting with users and understanding their world.
- Biased toward action: you ship, learn, and iterate.
- Comfortable in a fast-moving, sometimes ambiguous environment.
- Low ego, high ownership. You care more about outcomes than titles.
What we offer
- Competitive salary and meaningful equity.
- Remote-friendly culture in the US with strong ownership.
- Chance to shape a category-defining product from the ground up.
- Direct access to founders and impact on company strategy.
